Remember in my last post, I wrote how red ruled the autumn/winter 2020 trends, well I’m hooked on the colour, and it’s definitely making a play in wardrobe. It is such an empowering colour and it is my colour of choice for this autumn.
I have chosen it because it compliments my skin tone so well and doesn’t drain the colour out of my face but enhances my highlights and makes me shine.
I have put together five (5) reasons why I will be wearing red this autumn.
I LOVE THE COLOUR RED
I won’t say it’s my best colour but it comes close, it is such a powerful colour and anything that’s empowering and giving off badass vibes, I’m right up that street corner.
Have you ever walked into a room and yearned that all eyes were on you? A red outfit will do just that. It instantly catches the eye and draws attention to whoever is wearing it.
IT IS A HEAD TURNER
Remembering being invited to an event a few years ago, I had this red dress I’d not worn before. It was the perfect dress for this occasion. It accentuated my curves in the right way just like Emma Stone in that asymmetric red dress as she walked into the restaurant in the movie Gangster Squad. It concealed things I didn’t want anyone noticing just like Nicole Kidman in a corseted dress in Moulin Rouge and was such a confidence boost anytime I tried it on in front of my mirror. Visions of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman and Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell in glittery dresses in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes always flooded my mind every single time I put on my red dress. I decided to wear it to the event, and I received so many compliments that day.
IT IS A GREAT ACCENT COLOUR
Maybe wearing an all-red outfit is too daring for you. That’s ok, you can wrap yourself up with a bright red scarf over your monochrome outfit, or you can wear a red beret, tilted to the side to give off French chic vibes, or id accessories are your thing, then you can adorn yourself in a pair of bold red earrings. All these will take your outfits to the next level.
IT GIVES YOU THE FEELING OF WARMTH
There is a reason why red is the colour for Santa Clause. For someone who leaves in the North Pole, you would think he would always wear black, but red is a joyful colour that ignites the feeling of love and warmth.
IT BOOSTS ENERGY
We all need energy this period, especially on cloudy, gloomy days. Those days the sun refuses to come out because it’s napping. We need that extra jolt to get us through the day. Red prompts you to get up and go. Warning: You might end up doing jumping loops on the Himalayas, I’m just saying.
